Médiation linguistique et inclusion : le cas des familles adoptives

Abstract : Within the framework of an increasing global mobility, the notion of cultural group is constantly called into question by the existence of multi- et transcultural commu-nities, based on the constant redefinition of the principle of inclusion of their member and their values. The case of international adoptive families is a prime case which shows the challenge that this redefinition poses. In this article, we examine the role of inclusion in the initial family communication of an Italian adoptive family in Santiago of Chile. The findings indicate that the efforts for inclusion manifest in terms of different plurilingual strategies which involve, on different levels, the inclusion of the child’s language to encourage his participation.
