Le consulat français à Haiphong, 1954 à 1955 : une représentation diplomatique mort-née

Abstract : In March, 1955, France opened in Haiphong a consulate which operated under the authority of the French general delegate in Hanoi, Jean Sainteny. In return, North Vietnam required to be allowed to open a diplomatic representation in Paris. Since this request was not granted, North Vietnamese authorities submitted the consulate and its personnel to a harsh treatment which caused the station to close as early as November, 1955.
