Ankle sprain influence on inter-joint coordination during jump of basketball players
Abstract
The results from an experimental analysis of the most frequent ankle sprain mechanism in basketball, the jump, are presented.
It is showed that on the sample studied a previous history of ankle sprain can modify inter joint coordination on lower limb during the jump. While healthy athletes move there ankle and knee joints in greater synergy, athletes that have already suffered an ankle sprain do it in less synergy favouring the possibility of injury.
