Giordano Bruno - Heroism, Metamorphosis and Animality

Abstract

The question I wish to ask is the following: why does Bruno appeal to the theme of ``speculative'' heroism in a work of magic? What are the relationships between heroism, magic and animality? Can magic be equated with heroism? Or is the nature of the mage different from that of the hero ?
