« Cette espèce nouvelle de scepticisme, plus dangereuse et plus dure ». Ephexis, bouddhisme, frédéricisme chez Nietzsche

Abstract : This paper explores the new meaning conveyed to skepticism by Nietzsche. Starting from the puzzling double assessment of Greek skepticism, praised for the intellectual honesty of its ephexis, and simultaneously criticized as a buddhist type of nihilism maintaining ascetic values, it shows that the skepticism in the statement « great spirits are skeptics. Zarathustra is a skeptic » is to be understood in terms of « Frederickianism » (Beyond Good and Evil), that is, as a practical, bold and dangerous experiment on values.
